Saudi authorities have arrested a man who claimed to have traveled to the Holy City of Muslim Mecca to make a pilgrimage in the name of the late Ratu Elizabeth II. The man, a citizen of Yemen, on Monday published a video clip himself on social media in a major mosque in Mecca, the most sacred site of Islam, where non-Muslims were prohibited.

In the clip, he raised a banner that said: “Umrah for the soul of Queen Elizabeth II, we ask God to accept it in heaven and among the righteous.” The recording was widely circulated on Saudi social media, with Twitter users calling on the man’s arrest. Saudi Arabia forbade pilgrims to Mecca from carrying banners or chanting slogans.

And meanwhile it can be accepted to carry out Umrah on behalf of a dead Muslim, this does not apply to non-Muslims like the queen, who is the highest governor of the British Church, the Church of Anglican alliances throughout the world.

The security forces at the Great Mosque “arrested a Yemen national citizen who appeared in a video clip carrying banners in a large mosque, violating the rules and instructions for the Umrah,” said a statement brought by government media on Monday night. He was arrested, legal steps were taken against him and he was referred to public prosecution.”

State television broadcast segments about incidents that include controversial video clips, but with the banner ran away. Umrah is a pilgrimage that can be done at any time – different from the pilgrimage, which occurs once every year and usually attracts millions from all over the world.

The queen died on Thursday and her funeral was planned for September 19.
