North Korean leader, the wife of Kim Jong UN and the influential aunt made a rare appearance in the government’s media on Wednesday, because the ruling family has maintained a low profile during the Coronavirus pandemic Kim’s wife, RI Sol Ju, and his aunt, Kim Kyong Hui, attended the art show at The Mansudae Art Theater in the capital, Pyongyang, celebrating Chinese New Year holidays, state television showed. The last RI was seen in public on September 9, when he joined her husband in visiting Kumsusan Palace in the sun, which holds the body of Kim’s grandfather and father who was eradicated, on the commemoration of the country’s establishment.
“When (Kim) appeared in the theater auditorium with his wife, RI Sol Ju, in the midst of a greeting music game, the audience lifted the storm ‘hurray applause!'” The official KCNA news agency said Kim Kyong Hui is the main character in the first year of the powerful young leader, but has disappeared from the media after he ordered his strong husband’s execution, Jang Song Thaek, at the cost of betrayal in 2013, before making a surprise six years later. South Korea’s National Intelligence Service (NIS) said in 2017 that he was dealing with diseases that were not determined outside Pyongyang.
RI once collected international attention when he often accompanied Kim on a social, business, and even military event, in a cool break from his father, Kim Jong Il, who was rarely seen in public with one of his wives. He was absent from government media for more than a year before being seen attending the last February concert, sparked speculation on his health and pregnancy potential NIS told parliamentary members that he seemed to refrain from outside activities to prevent Covid-19 infection but “play well with their children.” Spy agencies believe Kim and the Republic of Indonesia have three children, but few are known publicly about them North Korea has not confirmed the Covid-19 outbreak, but closes its borders and takes strict sidewalks including travel limitations.
