James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) has revolutionized the way we ‘see’ the universe. While a good space telescope with steadfast with a firm sending image of the universe for decades, JWST is the most powerful human eye in the sky now. Telescopes will let us peek into the corners of the universe have never been seen before. It has started his work.

A scientist has used a set of data captured by JWST and created a brilliant image of a distant galaxy. Purple swirl from the spiral galaxy is indeed a miracle to be seen.Time to talk science. Gabriel Brammer of the University of Copenhagen in Denmark downloaded Dataset captured by JWST. While Hubble focuses on capturing cosmos images in visible spectrum, JWST mainly captures images in the infrared spectrum. Human eyes naturally cannot understand infrared light.

Brammer takes infrared dataset and ‘translates’ they become visible light (red-green). He then combined three images that produce purple vortex that we can see in the picture. Brammer is not related to the JWST team. The galaxy captured in the PIC was appointed NGC 628. It appeared purple in the picture due to the chemical composition of dust clouds in the galaxy.

“If our eyes can see in this middle infrared wavelength, the night sky will look more like this picture, which in my opinion will be spectacular, it might be a little scary,” Brammer said. The center of the galaxy looks as if a dragon has a green view to us.You can now write for wionews.com and be part of the community.
